Hi,

This may seem like a dumb question but can someone answer what happens with the old phone connection? does that phone no longer connect once my new one is activated?. Can the old one still be used via wireless connection? and is the new phone the same # as the old one...

It is all about the SIM. If you are using your old SIM with your new phone, life goes on as before. If you activated a new SIM on the same account, the old one will be disabled by koodo.

The old phone, without a SIM, cannot be used for calls or data apps, as they require to be routed via a mobile provider (SIM is used to tie you in to a provider) BUT you can still play games and use it as a spare.

Yes, You can use the old phone via wifi for data based applications.  Like a tablet so to speak.

Thanks everyone helps us understand, we are not using the old sim so that will be disabled..hopefully we have upgraded the correct way.

You can give the old phone away or sell it, or insert a prepaid card and give it to (your) kids. Possibilities are endless :)
