U.s Roaming. very disappointed

Unfortunately since last year your U.S roaming packages have changed and it is a steal from people rather then a good deal. Last year you had unlimited text messages now it is only 400, and if you go over 400 you are automatically charged another 15$. In this case you may end up paying 60 or 80 dollars for your text messages when in the U.S. The only reason for me staying with koodo is because of the good deals you had and especially since I travel to the U.S every christmas it was great ! now i am very disappointed about the scam.

If you plan on using your phone more in the US than the intended packages, get it unlocked and use a pre-paid US sim card for cheaper rates.

Holy moly......how much are you texting??? If you di end up paying $80 you would have sent and receive 2000 text message. How is that a vacation? 🙂 But Myke has a point....just unlock your phone and get a local SIM.

Believe it or not, sending/receiving 1600-2000 texts during a week or two in the US is slightly more than most people tend to use.

On another point, $15 is better than paying $0.60/message. You're looking at $for $1200 roaming charges for texting. So which is better, $1200 or $80?
Last year the plan included unlimited messages for 20$ add on, which was frankly a better deal then cutting it down to a limit of 400 messages. So they are initially charging more for less hypothetically speaking. The phone is also an IPhone so no simcard.

$15 < $20, so they're charging less for less. And iphones do take sim cards.

unless you pass the 400 limit, because it is both incoming and outgoing, initially I cant control the amount of incoming which may cause me to surpass 400 and then get charged an additional 15$ which would be 30$ total for 800. So again , more for less.

You have your options of what you can do. It's ultimately you're decision as to what you want to do.

Yes it is, all I have mentioned is that the add on options are worse.

And your points have been countered, so there's no real reason for this discussion to continue anymore.

If you are going for a short amount of time, if you have to make texts and calls back to Canada, and if you have an unlocked phone, consider Roam Mobility. As an example, if it's talk and text only you need, you can get it unlimited for $3 per day. So one week is $21. 300MB's of daily data is another dollar per day (so one week is $28 for unlimited talk/text and 2Gig's of total data). I've used it, works great.

Humberto has a good point. Roam mobility is definitely worth it for the short term.
