The current $40 double data plan is for new Koodo customers? Can previous customers not switch to this plan?

Everybody can switch 🙂 However, if you still have an outstanding Tab on your phone, you will have to pay that off first. What error are you getting?
I own my phone so I never had a tab balance. When I go to change my plan it only gives me the option for $40/month with 300 min and 300mb of data insyead of the 500min and 1 Gb

Right, those are the "old" plans... so if you can't change your plan to the promo one, contact Koodo and they will change it for you (be sure to mention you tried, so you won't have to pay a fee) 🙂

@ Bhumika, indeed you never had a negative tab balance. In order to switch to the promo plans you will have to change tab type, which would mean you'd have to give up your current 'no tab discount' of ten percent. I see you already called and decided to stay with your current plan.

I was able to switch my wife to that plan online, after agreeing to change the tab type (there was a pop-up).

I was told by CS rep that if you are receiving 10% discount, you can't change your plan to one of new plans through self serve.

There was no SIM-free discount on my wife's previous plan. I suppose Koodo wants you to call in so that the CS rep can explain the changes to prevent people for claiming that they didn't understand what they were agreeing to change.

True. I live in downtown Toronto and I can access free Wifi at cafe(Tims, Mcds every corners), restaurants, library, my work and subway stations...etc
And I still use 20 - 100 MB /mo. 🙂
