As long as its unlocked and it supports the right frequencies then yes. If you let us know which phone it is we can help you out on whether or not it's compatible.

Most likely a Samsung S20 or S20 ultra. They are almost $500 cheaper to buy them from amazon than from koodo.

@Cryozume It might be a good idea to invest in a Canadian variant of the S20 or S20 Ultra for warranty purposes. A phone inadvertently purchased from another country won’t be covered under Samsung Canada’s warranty. Ask the seller which model they’re selling. If you have questions, send us a link to the phone you’re thinking of getting.

Purchasing the S20 or S20 Ultra direct from Samsung Canada might be another option. I’m seeing an approximate savings of $450 for the S20 and $600 for the S20 Ultra. This option removes the guesswork when compared to shopping on Amazon. There’s also the added benefit of a warranty.

If you’re still thinking of purchasing a Samsung S20 or S20 Ultra on Amazon, here are some basic specs to look for.

Model Numbers - Canadian variants:

Samsung Galaxy S20 5G: SM-G981W, Snapdragon 865 processor - 128 GB/12 GB RAM

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G: SM-988W, Snapdragon 865 Processor - 128 GB/12 GB RAM

Koodo uses the following network frequency bands:

B5 and B2 - 3G & 4G (850 MHz & 1900 MHz)

B12, B13, B17, B29 - 4G LTE/LTE-A (700 MHz) rural usage

B4 - LTE/LTE-A  (1700/2100 MHz - AWS)

B7 - LTE/LTE-A (2600 MHz)

N5 - 5G FDD (850 MHz) Sub-6-GHz*

N66 - 5G FDD (1700/2100 MHz, AWS-3) Sub 6-GHz*

N71 - 5G FDD (600 MHz) Sub-6-GHz*

*Note: 5G is available in select areas in Canada - see article TELUS switches on 5G.

Edit: Koodo does not offer service on a 5G network at this time. However, the S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra are all 5G-capable.

See the following link regarding Koodo’s used frequencies https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/my-phone-compatible-koodo

Then see https://willmyphonework.net/ to see if you phone is compatible with Koodo’d frequencies.

Koodo Mobile's HSPA networks uses the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz frequencies, their LTE network uses 1700/2100 MHz (AWS), and their LTE-a network uses 2600 MHz and 700 MHz

@nim4165 Unfortunately, the site, willmyphonework.net does not show the S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra at this time.

Google Galaxy S20/S20+ ‘specifications’ to find each phone’s spectrum. For example, S20+

Technology
GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE
2G bands    GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2 (Dual SIM model only)
     CDMA 800 / 1900 & TD-SCDMA
3G bands    HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100

Best to just Google the manufacturer's website. I provided the other two sites for model number and radio frequency comparison. Also, 2G and CDMA can be removed from that list because Koodo does not operate on 2G GSM or CDMA networks.
