What sort of features would you like in a "Student" Plan & what price?
Userlevel 7
I haven't seen many other student plans from the other companies... Rogers and Bell give you an extra 1GB of data on some plans and Rogers will give you $5 off your monthly rate plan (with a SOC code manually entered DURING activation and NOT after) but it's only on all plans that already have 1GB. The "Smart picks" plan for $70 has 1GB of data (so you'll get 2 now), but here's the issue: First of all, $70/month is way to high to be in a student's price range unless mommy and daddy are paying for it, and 2nd, that plan is only available on select phones, so that eliminates premium devices like the S4, HTC One, iPhone 4S/5, Z10/Q10, and so on. The plans for those types of phones start at $70 and only have 250 MB, which again is not in a typical student's price range so it's dumb.

$50 is the max for any "student-oriented" plans, in my opinion.

It can be affordable. You just can't expect them to give you the moon for a quarter, man.

Why can't I edit my post? I needed to change some things... apparently their "smart picks" plans start at $50 and you'll get double data (bringing it to 400MB) and 150 Canada-wide minutes, plus you'll get $5 off for being a student... so that's actually not too bad. It's still only on select devices though.

you can't edit a post after someone replies to you

i really hope Koodo has sale again..

Well the good thing is that you can switch to any promotional plan that's advertised. You can actually change your plan once a month. Also something to consider is have you checked any retailers on in store promotions for activation? Mobile Shop has a back to school scratch and win event where you can potentially earn up to $200 in PC.gift cards...

Not everyone looking for a good plan is necessarily a new activation. Many customers just want a better plan, like me and are not interested in lame.gift card promotions for.gift cards that are only for new customers

I'm currently satisfied my plan but I can't seem to boast about Koodo's plans and promotions like I did before since there really aren't any.

Why is there offer only in Quebec?!

Because it's to compete with regional carriers like Videotron and the QC/SK/MB markets are just different.

This plan is so good I grabbed it yesterday. I'm still keeping my prepaid plan, but this specific plan ($50 unlm voice+SMS / 1GB) brought me back to postpaid. And the SIM-only discount makes it $45 in my case. Really, all that for $45, I never thought I'd see something like this again. It really should be offered in all provinces though.

Topper --> I though you wanted a lot of data or nothing, what changed your mind ? 😛

I still do, but recently I've been traveling quite a bit more, so the unlm voice comes in handy ALONG with the 1GB data. The unlm voice $50 plan alone would not have made me come back to postpaid, but the same plan with an included 1GB at $45 (10% BYOD discount) kinda made sense. I've been dataless for some time now... and you know what happens when you spend any amount of time without something you crave 😃 I'm not sure I'll keep the plan when I'm done using that much voice minutes though (gotta love No Tab option). When I'm back to regular schedule, I may simply drop the plan and continue with my prepaid line, I still dunno. Right now I have 2 active lines, I'm keeping my prepaid line because I don't want to lose my voice booster. Aaaaannnnnddddd there's also the fact that I have many spare phones that felt lonely, lol! No really, I'll see when I'm done calling so much. For now though, I'm rocking dual phones 😛 (yeah I know.... completely ridiculous!) EDIT: Just realized I did not even answer your question, lol! I probably won't do much in terms of data use, likely simply email and little browsing. What I want buckets of data for is Play Music to stream my music and TuneIn Radio because my workplace doesn't mind people listening to the radio, but the concrete walls are so thick they block FM almost entirely, so reception is poor. That, with a couple videos on the side, eats up data quickly.

When you'll get used again to data you won't be able to come back to an only voice and text plan. 😛 1 gb is still "affordable" on prepaid unless you call a lot like you do.

Yeah, having data is VERY convenient... But the thing that makes me fume is having to "compromise"... I've never been a compromise kinda guy, and having to just alienates me and makes me prefer to go without (well, it had up to a couple of days ago). We'll see what happens. I figure if I do just the basics I'll use about 200MBs in a month. It's the other 5.8GBs that I want though 😛 We all know it's not happening anyway, so no reason to be upset over this. I will probably stick with my prepaid line once all this work overtime is done though. We'll see!

Why is Koodo so discrimitive?

I hope we can get back the old cheap koodo

Andy Yue wrote:

Probably won't happen. There's a reason why it was cheaper before, and that was because the old Tab was a really long term disguised as no contract. 15% contribution and 24 month guarantee means Koodo is writing off Tabs faster, and they need to make up that money somewhere else... it comes out to rate plan.

They're not. Like I said, if any promotions pop up, you can grab a new plan.

Why does Koodo not have sale when needed?

I've seen many of your posts Andy, and from the looks of it, Koodo doesn't live up to your expectations. So my question to you is: why are you staying?
