Required new phone when upgrading my plan? I want to keep my phone!


Why can't I change my phone plan on-line without buying a new phone? I want to upgrade to the $45 plan but keep my current phone.

Hello Devon. What does it say? If you're on the old "tab" and your tab contribution is stil 10% instead of 15% this may explain this issue!
I put the new plan into my cart. Then proceed to check out and it says that I have to add a phone. Says it's required.

That's the problem! You are trying to go through as if you were buying or upgrading. You need to be logged into self serve then scroll down and you will see a bunch of links. Click on 'Plans and Add-ons'.

Okay, my tab contribution is at 10%, but I have $150 on my tab. What does the 10% have to do with it? Is that something I can change so I can get a new plan?

There's been some changes since the last time you changed your plan. I think you would need to visit a store in order to do what you want to do without buying a phone. Becasue he tab system has changed from 150 only to 150, 300 or 500$ a new phone is required to take advatanges of those plans "online". Because it is set up like that. Try giving Koodo a call and see what they have to say about this. Dial *611 from your cellphone or

Oooops, that's right Rudy. I can scroll down to see more choices. I was logged in(I believe OP too) but I clicked on "Shop" on top of the page ;P That's why we couldn't upgrade. Now I know 🙂
It doesn't go through and then a highlighted message says "Required: Choose a Phone." I love my phone! 😞

Yes. You can change your plan without buying a new phone through self serve. Log in self serve > Plan &Add-ons > pick a plan you want
Doesn't work. Tried in the new website too and it won't let me go further until I add a new phone. Whyyyyy????

Ok. I tried to change my plan. I know what you means now. I would call customer service to change it. Make sure you tell them you tried through self serve, but it doesn't change without purchasing a phone. And I'll make sure they don't charge you for this. They upgraded their site recently, so this might be the reason. Ill let them know.

Don't forget mention to them you tried through self serve and it didn't let you change. 🙂

Yep, he's trying to change his plan now just to make sure it's not a larger issue on the site. He's waiving the fee! thanks again!
