Promote competition not higher ARPU!


Wow Koodo. I used to be impressed, but now I'm just disappointed. Increasing prices and lowering data. You're not even a value brand anymore. Here's an idea, promote competition! Well at least the old plans just came back! Until March 17th...
Agreed. Koodo's plans have been absolutely terrible this year. Nothing of value and gouging at every turn when it comes to data. It won't matter though. Customers will still buy Koodo and as long as Koodo gets that bottom dollar, nothing will change. And nothing will change because North Americans feel they HAVE to have a mobile phone.

Actually, the prices were expected to be raised after the 2 year contracts and all carriers did. The prices before yesterday were reflective of that. You can't say Koodo's plans have been terrible when they matched the industry standard at the time. THIS change towards these clearly worse plans is what is terrible. What they did before was expected, but there is no reason for an increase this time around.

Yeah, because the industry standard is gouging customers, no matter which provider they're with *rolls eyes*. Don't try to white knight Koodo or the mobile industry.

I hear your end of the fence for sure Kane! But we as consumers cannot do anything about it except to accept what is for pricing because it's not going to be much better elsewhere. I am not saying Koodo is the best or the worst but it's a lose lose situation from a consumers stand point.

We can vote with our wallets and not use any mobile provider. That is what us as consumers have the power to do.

But in reality, you cannot ask every Canadian consumer to get rid of their mobile phone to make a stance. I mean I do see your logic but the importance of a consumer of having their cell phone is of high importance. Personally, I feel naked without my cell phone.

That's because we, as a society, have been conditioned to believe that we MUST have a cell phone. 20+ years ago, when there were no cell phones, people survived. Consumers just have to get back the mentality that cell phones are not really mandatory. I do understand for the use of emergencies, but most people have a cell phone for the sake of having one.

Try finding a payphone these days, twenty plus years ago they were everywhere. Cell phones were ridiculously expensive and back then, I was told it was just a passing fad as everyone used landline phones. Today, you'd be hard pressed to find five payphone booths in or around your neighbourhood. Portable communication is here to stay and has become a necessity for many.

My friend is missing the $20 plan a year ago, just for keeping basic communication.
