Local minutes, what is it ?

I'm interested in the plan with 100 local minutes. But what are local minutes? Is my local area my province ? If i'm from Québec, Québec and i call Val-d'Or, Québec, is it local ?

Thanks

It's definitely not your entire province.
This is your local calling area, like MTL or whatever city you are in.

I've only ever dealt with canada wide plans myself so i'm not entirely sure of all the zones.
But it's safe to assume that it is just in your city or municipality.

Are they using same area code? If not, I don't think they are local area.
Even if they use same area code,it could be long distanse if it's different city.

TBH, I don't like those "Local Minutes Plans".
You get charged $0.5/min for Long distance charge + $0.5/min minutes overage charge.
It could adds up quickly.

Even the same area code can be long distance.
It's best to listen to the robot when she tells you that long distance charges may apply.

Quebec would be 418 number, right? Well you could call 418 numbers no problem. If you need to dial 1 before the number, then it's not local!
Thanks everyone for the replies !! 🙂
Let say I have a Montreal local number and I am in Ottawa. Is that a local call?

Call from Montreal to Ottawa is a long distance call.

Edit :
Wait... If you are in Ottawa, then i believe calling Ottawa number is local call.
