International add-on question: re-up mid-way through the 30 days

Userlevel 3
Posting as a comment in a related thread yielded zero responses, so let me move to main page:  I plan to get the 30BUNDLE for an upcoming trip, but can I renew it BEFORE the 30 days expire and can I do that while roaming by texting 5242? I'm fully expecting to run over the measly 50 minute allocation...you guys should really be more generous that that.

The prices aren't really determined by Koodo.
They are direct reflections of an agreement between Koodo and the partnering service provider in that area.
Yes you can renew the package if you need more usage than that.
But if you're going to be spending too much money on this you would be better just grabbing a quick and easy prepaid setup while you are there.
Drop like 50 bucks on a prepaid sim and a plan.

I already got a SIM at the destination, I only need the add-on for emergency calls and airports. And you have to admit...50min/50MB(????)/50SMS sounds archaic.

well then that amount of usage seems totally fine for your intended purpose.
Enjoy your trip mate

Well thanks 🙂 ...but what about the question: IF I have to renew the add-on half-way, can I do it? I searched long and hard this forum and it looks like very few people (if any) have had the need to do this thing...

Hmmm not sure that answers his question. Let me ask our liason because I'm not quite sure if you can or can't.

I do!
Thought I had a pretty thorough understanding of the add-ons.
This was a weird one though.
Guess I was wrong!

Hahahaha...expensive or not, I couldn't add the bundle...got an error despite having the zero dollars International calling and data add-ons. Not happy.

/EDIT to Koodo's credit, a call to Tech Support had it sorted out in 3 min.
Contrary to what is posted in these forums, my problem was that I ADDED the Int'l voice and data roaming packages (as instructed online ...see below)
Specifically this post prompted me to add those options as a pre-requisite. Turns out it's WRONG. They will conflict with the add-on itself - so you will have to call Koodo to override the error.

Of course, if the new website would still have the option to add packages online (with a start date...as it used to be) you would at least get a meaningful message instructing you what to do. No such luck with SMS...where the error just tells you to call *611.

Hope this helps someone looking for the same package.
