Data top ups; got charged more then asked for

I used all my data and got a message that I could buy more, so i bought only 100mb for $5 extra. Now I see on my bill that I got charged $25! Shouldn't I have been getting a message that they would pause my data when I reach the new 100MB limit?

It should.
Did your data paused when you used up your original data limit?
100mb for $5 is your pay per use rate?
Did you check self serve and it says $25 charge for data? It’s not for calls or something else?

@Jazh Here is the note from Koodo about unpausing data https://www.koodomobile.com/help/pausing-and-resuming-data

If you reply Yes, you would be charged by the payperuse rate ($5/100MB), they didn't mention about another pause if you reach 100MB. I just wonder if that was the case. You could check it in your bill. Was it 500MB pay per use?
@Mayumi Yes it did.
I got 300mb on my plan, and bought 100mb for $5, assuming that it would pause again when I would reach the limit of that.
@Mayumi @Dinh The bill says that I used 735mb, and that is possible....because we were on holidays. So minus my own 300mb it makes sense; 5x 100mb x $5, but without notice of reaching the limit or pausing it.

If you text YES replied to the notice, it meant you agreed to use the extra data at payperuse rate. There are several other options of top up, those should paused when you reached the limit.https://www.koodomobile.com/help/pausing-and-resuming-data

I believe they only have to suspend your data and ask for your consent again when your data overage reaches $50 as per CRTC https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/phone/mobile/limit.htm

You would receive notice of consumption at $50 of overage when you choose pay-per-use rates. It is not like the buckets of data, which would receive notice at time of full consumption.
