Data

You should offer additional data as an add-on.

They used to, however the current structure doesn't allow for it. Talk & Text plans get a pay per use rate, which falls under the old Data Saver rates. Data Plans have a fixed amount of data with an overage rate, which is dependent on the specific rate plan.

Has been suggested many times before and nothing has been done.

I know of a person that would cancel and pay off the remaining amount of their contract with Bell and switch to Koodo if they offered this 😞

Which plan do you have? Sounds like you need to go on the $60 or $75

I have 4gigs of data with my plan but sometimes reach 8gigs as I play RDIO at work all the time.... I pay $15/month for RDIO. This is why I wish Koodo would offer additional data as an add-on

Again, it cannot be offered as an addon because the current structure doesn't work. If you are going to end up going over, the reserve the usage for wifi.

Until the need arises where the majority of the custoemrs want it, it may not happen. Hard to say for sure, though.

I live in rural with lime rock... we do not get high speed internet out here and the satellites don't have the speed I need to run RDIO. I was just suggesting that it be an add-on for those who need it..... I would use wifi if I could but our wifi can't even run youtube.

Rdio does offer the ability for you to store music on your device though (although it's recommended to sync over wifi than over the cell network). This would eliminate your data charges pretty much entirely. I use Slacker Radio and for $4 a month I can store their stations on my phone (I can't pick and choose individual songs on that plan but they have a $10 one that lets you do that basically). If for some reason Rdio doesn't let you cache the songs to your device maybe it might be more economical to see if another option like Slacker or Songza works better for your needs.

I'm for this. Make it a bit cheaper than the overage rate and maybe people will buy the add-on for peace of mind.

The structure doesn't allow for it. That's why it cannot be done. It would require a complete overhaul of the current pay per use & fixed data amount system in order to allow fixed data addons. But really, when you look at it, data overages are, in essence, data addons. For exmaple: $10/500 mb, is the overage cost of one of the data plans. So really, $10 for an additional 500 MB technically counts as a data addon without it being an actual addon.

Yes, they USED to have the data addons, because they did not have rate plans that included data. Now they do.

Structure can be changed. The previous structure obviously allowed for it. Overages are add-ons in the same sense that speeding tickets are add-ons to your car insurance. $10/500 MB isn't much of a bargain, and it really isn't meant to be as an overage charge. How about $5 if you prepay it (non-refundable) and $10 if you don't. It wouldn't be the first time someone employed a strategy of selling service in advance for a smaller amount to guarantee that income vs. possible overage charge.

If you listen to radio over the Internet all day then why not get a phone that has built in FM Radio which doesn't use any data

The app I use is not radio... anyway I just thought it would be a good idea to have extra data as an add on for the people that need it.

Does anyone know which phones in Canada have fm radio (not over internet)? I have a nokia 5800 xpressmusic, which receives fm signals but I would like to upgrade to a new or recent phone with fm radio
