Canada-US roaming with data, talk and texts

Does this plan allow you to travel in the US with out any further charges?

So does this mean I can travel to a U.S. destination, just like going to another province in Canada.

And use my phone with this plan for data usage along with sending and receiving calls texts with no other charges other than my $60.00 monthly fee.

So, I have the same question, but to be sure, if I take this plan shown above (at $60) , I will have UNLIMITED call minutes, UNLIMITED text, and 100GB of data per month in both Canada AND the US?

(Would like a Koodo employee to verify this before I switch)

1. How does calling and texting work with a Canada-US plan?

From Canada or the U.S: Unlimited calling and texting (including text, picture, and video messaging) is included with Canada-US plans. Calling and texting phone numbers outside Canada or the U.S. will be charged at the standard international long distance pay-per-use rate (if calling from Canada) or the standard U.S. roaming voice pay-per-use rate (if calling from the U.S.). To see the current rates, visit koodo.com/payperuse

If you have an international long distance calling or texting add-on, the rates of your add-on only apply when making international long-distance calls or texts from Canada.

From destinations other than Canada or the U.S: All calling and texting (including text, picture, and video messaging) will be charged as roaming fee. If you do not have Easy Roam, usage will be charged at standard pay-per-use roaming rates as posted on koodo.com/payperuse.

Note: Picture and video messaging will count as a text message and also use data.

I have a follow-up question regarding the plan the original poster referenced.

I just upgraded to the $60/mo Canada-US roaming with data, talk and texts plan.

Should I remove the Easy Roam US - PayPerUse Access On add-on from my Add-ons list?

I don't think you should remove it, because that add-on enables you to access US towers. Needless to say you won't be charged extra for that.

Okay but this is a promotional rate right? So once the rate is over and everything does it still apply? Like basically my question is, is there any catch? Why offer 60 dollars a month only 60 gigs and you can only use your service canada wide but then offer 60 dollars a month 100 gigs (which is 40 gigs more) and I get to use my phone unlimited in canada as well as thr united states. Like it sounds like a good deal I just don't want to get screwed in the end.

Yes it’s good deal if you go to US often, living close to the border or simply want to have more data amount. 
And remember, this plan was offer only existing customers through self serve. 
Many times people complain only need customers get better deal. This time existing customers got a better deal IF you can use this plan . (For me, it was not for my needs. )

To confirm, this plan would eliminate the $14.00 per day charge to use your phone in the US?

Asking as above it states it does, but I just got off the phone with a Koodo rep and they said it does not.

Whoever you spoke to on the phone was wrong. With that plan you can use your phone in the US as you can in Canada. ONLY difference is calling to other countries than the US/Canada, that would be charged the EasyRoam fee. But as long as you call just the US or Canada, you’ll be fine.

Hello 

In order to make sure we are on the right page. The CAN-US package that you selected, is Canada-wide and will cover you if you are Roaming in the US. There would be no US Easy Roam feature required, so you can remove it, if it is still present.

Keep in mind that if you are traveling to other destinations, other than Canada and US, you will require the International Easy roam. 

 

There are some conditions where you might see pay per use charges, even if certain numbers you call are from the US, this is a general situation that could’ve happened even with US Easy Roam. It is due to certain agreements limitations with certain US providers.
