Call forwarding minute usage

Userlevel 1
When you use call forwarding to another Canadian number for the $3/month do you use your Koodo minutes to do this? For example, I forward my Koodo number to another Canadian number and I answer the new phone and talk for 10 minutes. Are 10 Koodo minutes used to do this?

Hi Jason, call forwarding is unlimited and will not be deducted from your Koodo airtime 🙂 ________________________ If you see a good answer, give it a star.

Ok so let's say I'm leaving the country and want my calls forwarded to another phone while I'm away I could technically get a very basic plan on my phone to keep the number active and not run out of/need minutes?

If you forward out of the country the forwarded calls are subject to Roaming Charges.

Call forwarding outside of Canada definitely not recommended. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1851845-koodo-bill-is-900-dollars If you need to do it on a frequent basis, consider a VoIP service or internet phone app where North America is one big call zone and the concept of roaming does not exist.

Something like Fongo will do just fine...either you need a local SIM or use just wifi to check your VM and get occasional calls.

Yes I have this set up already.

If calls being forwarded uses no minutes with Koodo, what is the cheapest plan to have which keeps the number active and still forwards calls? Would pay as you go be the best option which would use 0 minutes/month but pay for the call forwarding or do you need an monthly plan to have calls forwarded?

To my knowledge, the Call forwarding add on is not available to prepaid plans, so you would need to have a post-paid plan. Cheapest is currently $28/month. Cheapest way would be a VoIP service which can forward to which ever phone you like. Available for less than a penny per minute. You can then forward it to what ever phone you are at: work, home, vacation villa, or your mother's.
