When you order online they will give you a number for the province your billing/mailing address is in. You can change your number through your self serve but you'll only be offered numbers for the province your address is in. Once you change your address when you move you'll be able to select a Toronto number. Since plan prices are similar in Alberta and Ontario they might let you have a Toronto number with an Edmonton address right away. You'll have to contact them and ask.

If youll be moving to Toronto I don't see why not. Worst case scenario you can start now with an Edmonton number and change it to a Toronto one in self-serve.

If you go into a store they should be able to do this for you as well without having the restriction online.

Yeah, and nice $35 connection fee in the next bill.

You can change the number without restriction in store, sign up online though.
Or talk super super nicely to the sales rep about that connection fee.

Wrong. AB and ON both get gouged, so there is no restriction for changing phone numbers between them. Also, changing your number on Self Serve has absolutely nothing to do with your address.

If your current number is from Alberta, B.C. or Ontario, you can change your number to one from any province. If your current number is from another province, you must choose a number from that same province.

No problem to switch but self serve wont let you for some provinces. That's when contacting Koodo would have to come in.

The thread is about Edmonton, AB and Toronto, ON, so Self Serve will be just fine.

Don't remember the provinces off the top of my head so I'll take your word for it!

We tell people how to do things using the current portal and not how to get to the old one. Yes you love to post info about Koodo loopholes but you should be smart enough to know why we dont.
