Question

3 days road trip USA,,,30$ or 5$/20mb

Hi !
we will be in Lake George area for 3 days. I plan to use some data for finding restaurants, a bit of google map and trip advsisor. I dont need minutes or text. I have a hard tim figuring if we should pay 30$ for 150mb or we should go with the 5$/20 mb.

I would go with the 150 MB because 20 is not enough for what you want to do!

I would cruise on the overage rate. 20MB isnt enough but you could get by on $15 for 60MB, ($5 for 20MB × 3). If you are very diligent about turning your data off when you arent using it and only make quick google searches then you wont use much data at all.
Thanks !
Is there a way to check data usage in real time (I have an LG5)

I also plan to use HERE app offline (I alreayd have download maps), so it mean it wont use any date I guess.

Last thing, if I go for the 5$/20 mb is there something I must activate before going ?

I also plan to use HERE...

You can keep track of your data usage on your phone. That updates in "real time". Just note your starting data amount before you leave on your trip. Note that the data usage on your phone will most likely be a little higher than your actually usage. I find usually by a couple MB. The only thing you would have to "activate" is to make data roaming is turned on.

Keep an eye out for free wifi hotspots while you're there. (coffee houses like Starbucks are prime locations to look). Every MB you can save will help.

As well, when looking for restaurants try to stick to google. Going to websites with lots of pictures and such will use up your data quicker.

Keep an eye on it. It might conserve your data really well.
You can also turn data saver on and if you see apps using up data in the background you can restrict background access to them.
