Excellent question, since CDMA phones are now dwindling and only a couple CDMA phones (BB 8530 and Samsung Flip Phone) still exist in some Koodo Shops and most people register with HSPA phones, it may soon be discontinued. Theres no word for it though.

We cannot say for sure if CDMA technology will live forever together with HSPA/LTE, but for the time being there is no info saying that Koodo is going to stop CDMA.

CDMA is being slowly phased out. CDMA phones are currently only available in MB and Northern ON, where large portions of the coverage map are only served by the CDMA network. I expect that CDMA service will continue to be offered until such time as there are too few CDMA customers to make maintaining the network worthwhile, at which point they will likely be required to switch to HSPA.
I have been informed by KOODO that cdma coverage is going to be discontinued at the end of this year 2014, at least where I live in south east MB. As we have no hspa coverag yet this means I am going to have to change cell phone companies to mts or rogers, who btw have hspa/lte coverage here but poor and unreliable coverage. So where I live and work is being left without any reliable coverage by ANY cell company. KOODO?TELUS PLEASE install some towers between hwy 12 and hwy 1 in MB to Kenora with hspa.

Rogers/Fido and MTS have a exclusive rights to build towers there so that's really out of their hands for the time being.

Jonathan, are you telling me koodo/telus cannot build their own hspa towers in MB? And rogers/mts has the right to fully exclude telus/koodo from using their towers for hspa?
