Most sellers won't have that information. And you can't 100%rely on mfgr specs because they build...Hey guys I'm looking into purchasing a Huawei Mate 9 and was wondering if it would work on koodo network with full data capabilities. I have done quite a bit of research but could not find a definitive answer. Any insight into this would be great....thx in advance

Most sellers won't have that information. And you can't 100%rely on mfgr specs because they build...Use the link Bob gave to find out. If it doesn't say, look for 850/1900mhz for 3G and ideally 2700/2100 or 2600mhz for lte. You can get 700, 850, 1900 in select markets but we are not aware where exactly the last three are deployed.

Jonathan I's answer is all the OP needs to know, as well as that the phone is not blocked (stolen, etc) using Koodo's tool. OP's supplier apparently can't translate those private numbers into frequencies.

Anyway, I used my secret decoder ring (google) and found the information. Was trying to be helpful.

Can you tell me if these will work with Koodo?

If this is specs from a phone, you can use willmyphonework.net to see if just about any phone will work with just about any carrier in the world.

Only Rogers has 2G in Canada.
3G yes (850/1900)
4G only in select markets where 2600mhz is deployed.

And then ask yourself if 4G/LTE is important to you. For 99% of consumers, 3G is more than fast enough. I often disable LTE on my phones to save battery.

What phone are you looking at? Edit: looking at the specs you posted you should be just okay for 3G service. However your missing the 1900mhz band in the 3G range so there may be times when y this phone simply does not have service.

D''oh! I saw 2100 and registered 1900. It probably won't work on 3G then. 1900 is needed for the uplink frequency. D/U bands can be on the 850 or the 1900 but I believe that Canadian carriers separate it entirely and you need both to get service.

Well darn I didn't know that. I was always of thinkin that you had to at least have the 850mhz band as a minimum. Hmmm

That phone will work on 3G but not on LTE as i believe Koodo runs on LTE AWS 1700/2100 meaning it needs both 1700 and 2100 to run

That's right, 1700 and 2100 come hand in hand. 2600 is used for LTE-advanced. Certain markets are getting 850/1900 repurposed for LTE as cdma gets shut down. And so you're not gonna have much luck with that phone. Maybe when VoLTE is out nationwide or wherever you are located. But until then this phone will not work. For future reference willmyphonework.net will let you see if almost every phone will work with almost every carrier in the world. The moto g play appears to be a superior in some ways and equivalent in other ways by specs compared to the leagoo m5 plus and PC mobile sells it for About the same price. Unlocking is dirt cheap as well. You can usually get better luck with the bigger Chinese brands as well on sites like gearbest or Geekbuying such as xiaomi or elephone or letv. All depends on your budget of course. It is stick with the moto g play if it's under 150 That you wish to spend. 200+ I'd say xiaomi especially because their phones tend to be 3G and LTE compatible in Canada.

Koodo uses 850/1900mhz for 3G so it will not work. 2600mhz will get you lte data as per the lTE - A coverage map and VoLTE if your phone supports it once Koodo launches it but until then no dice.
Hi,

I don't full understand. When we look at chinese phones, they always list 2g, 3g and LTE, but someone here said that we don't have 2g in canada. Do does that mean that the 2g frequencies are useless here, or will they work but in 3g?

I'm looking to know if one of these phones will work with koodo. I don't really care about LTE, since it uses battery I often disable it, 3g if fine for my use.
