Weak to no cell signal

My wife and I barely get one bar of signal at home and most of the time have none. I can only occasionally send texts and phone calls never go through. What can I do to get better signal at home? The coverage map says I should have 4G HSPA Coverage. We don't feel like we are getting any coverage!

Nope. Either one bar or no bars inside and out.

If either one is a smartphone, download Network Signal Strength from the Play Store or an iPhone equivalent. Bars are pretty well useless in terms of indicating real signal strength. You need something which can show phone and data strength in dB form. I live in a rural area with spotty local service due to hilly terrain and dense tree cover. It was a ritual: get off the highway, stop the car, start call forwarding from the cel to home number. Reverse the process when going out. The $3 a month unlimited call forwarding from Koodo was a godsend. At one point, a local cel tower got upgraded and with the meter application, I was able to find out the best placement and orientation for my phone and now have a stable spot in my home office where I can call and text at will, though 5 feet from there it's game over, but fine again a few hundred feet away outside the house. Signal boosters work well under certain circumstances, but are hardly an inexpensive do-it-yourself project. and can cause more problems than they solve.
If either one is a smartphone, download Network Signal Strength from the Play Store or an iPhone ...Uniden U65 will fix problems. Not cheap but better than hand held boosters.

While I agree that cell signal boosters can get a little pricey, the investment will pay for itself within the first few months of operation. I guess the other question that should be asked is where are you located? I'm thinking you might be located on the fringe of Koodo's coverage area. The fact that you are getting at least one bar means that signal, although weak, is still able to make a connection with your device. You won't need an elaborate commercial setup, rather something more along the lines of an in-home system should suffice. Again, the prices may be a little difficult to digest, but if you can get your mind around that, you'll have worry-free cell service for years to come. I can personally vouch for Wilson Electronics line of cell boosters having installed two such boosters (below) roughly a year and a half ago in areas where friends were getting intermittent cell service. http://www.wilsonamplifierstore.com/wilson-801247-signalboost-dt-repeater-kit http://www.wilsonamplifierstore.com/wilson-841262-signalboost-dt-pro-repeater-kit Routing the cable and determining the best area for outdoor antenna placement took a bit of time, but when all was said and done, their phones were consistently getting between three and five bars depending on their proximity to the indoor antenna. Not bad, coming from phones that had little to no reception previously. Wilson Electronics isn't the only manufacturer of cell signal boosters. Uniden has jumped on the bandwagon and offers similar booster kits. Although I've never tested any of them, Uniden is also a reputable brand worth looking into. The coverage maps only serve as a guide and you may still be on the fringe of the 4G HSPA network. A town or city will do. Also, what phone are you using? You've tagged 'other' as your device. The phone may be set to LTE mode and you may be witnessing a significant drop in signal as a result. Another suggestion would be to contact Koodo via landline to see if there may be a problem with the cell tower in your area. Failing that and as a last resort, your device may need to go in for repair. In most rural area bell tower rents bandwidth to Koodo and no actual Telus towers . Are you in a shadow of a hill region ..if it's an iPhone or if you have iPad download tower locator canada -Steven nikkel and see where you are at
