Warranty repair without original receipt

Userlevel 3
I purchased a used Koodo Blackberry Q5 and the camera is no longer working...is it possible to get warranty repair done without original receipt? If so I'm not currently a Koodo client so I assume would have to signup on prepaid?

Warranty is not tied to being a koodo customer, so as long as you are still under warranty kood should be able to have it repaired.

Based on what I know I think you have to have an active koodo account to send it in for repair. Unless you wanted to speak with Blackberry directly?Correct me if I'm wrong

You are indeed wrong. You don't have to have an active account to have a phone repaire. Nowhere in the warranty section i t states that cancelling service will void warranty. 🙂

From BlackBerry website: http://www.blackberry.com/legal/warranty/handheld.shtml

BlackBerry Handheld (which together comprise the BlackBerry Hardware), will be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period that is the shorter of (i) one (1) year from the date that the new BlackBerry Handheld was first [b]purchased by YOU as an original end-user ("YOU") and (ii) the period ending upon YOUR breach of the BlackBerry End-User/Software License Agreement (the "License Agreement") entered into between YOU and Research In Motion Limited and/OR its affiliated group of companies' ("RIM") in connection with the BlackBerry Solution (the "Warranty Period"). [b]This Limited Warranty is not transferable.

From Me: You would need to contact the original purchase and ask them to help you facilitate the repairs. While Chris is right that you don't need an active account for Koodo to help you get warranty service, you do need to be the original purchaser.

On one note. Have you tried a factory restore? Maybe it's just a software glitch. If not... I contacted our MM Professor X and they said you should give support a call and see if the warranty can be facilitated by you alone. The following statement is entirely my own: I would say call and say hey my camera isn't working on my Q5, I need warranty service.

Seem to be getting get a lot of different answers...even called the Koodo shop where it was originally purchased from Guildford Surrey and the guy told me warranty is with the original account holder NOT the device...sounds like BS to me but whatever guess that is the risk you take buying used I suppose.

Try calling a few other locations and see what they say. If they all say the same thing, then I guess you got your answer. If one of them happen to give you the answer you want then go directing to that one. "Do not pass go. Do not collect $200"
