Upgrading phone on my own?

Can I buy a new upgrade phone on my own (not from Koodo) and just move the SIM card from my old phone to the new phone, keeping my plan as it is. I have no outstanding tab and I like my current plan very much. Am I allowed to do this and would the transition to the new phone be seamless?

Yes there's no problem in doing this.

The only issue you may run into is making sure the phone has the right network bands to work with Koodo. If you're buying a phone directly from Apple or Samsung Canada you'll be fine. If you're buying one from Amazon or an international model of a phone then you'll have to look into it a bit.
