SIM card damaged?

Hi!

I think my sim card might be damaged. I am in France at the moment so I recently changed my sim card to use a French phone number. When I tried to use my Canadian phone number again, I couldn’t get any service.

I already have the international roaming access Add-on and it was working well before I changed my sim card.

I also tried all of these : https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT201415

Thank you for your help!

You can try resetting your APN settings as per here:

https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-data-your-non-koodo-phone

Can you try the Sim card in another phone? Does it look bent or scratched up?

I tried it in another phone and the problem persists, even though the sim card doesn’t look bent or scratched .

I resetted the APN settings, without success.

Are you still in France atm?

“I couldn’t get any service” Check your internet settings, select ‘koodo’  network (it may have been manually set on the French network) and see if you get service.

@Robert T Yes I am still in France

@nim4165 It is still on Koodo network...

Sorry about the previous recommendation to select the koodo network. That was wrong!.

Since you have a valid (assume it has not expired!) international roaming access Add-on and your phone has a koodo SIM again, please reboot and double check that your roaming is enabled and your network setting has ‘Automatic selection of network’ enabled. That’s all I have.  Good luck!

@nim4165 Thank you for your help, I have been rebooting again and again… ! I verified the add-on, network is enabled, put on “Automatic selection of network”. If it doesn’t work could that lead me on the track that the sim card is indeed damaged ?

Check your self serve and see if you are all paid up and not in arrears

SIMs are not easily damaged, in my experience. If you have not exceeded your international roaming access add-on budget, the only other thing I can think off is to verify again your phone’s network setup from scratch https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-data-your-non-koodo-phone

@nim4165 No, I have not exceeded it since I cannot use my sim card… I have an Iphone, so it cannot be setup manually.

@Dennis Self serve is all in order.

:disappointed:

In my experience, though SIMs don’t appear fragile, they do have a higher failure rate (anecdotal) than I expected. I’ve cut many older sims down to size and they worked, yet others would stop working for no apparent reason without any physical modification.

I’ve used the following website to push APN profiles to iOS devices before:
