Send a message page

Why on Earth would you remove this page? My son regularly uses it to message me since you don't allow e-mail messages to open anymore on a non data phone and he is too young for a cell phone. So not impressed with Koodo as of late! Please bring this back.

You can use the one on the Telus website, or try an email to 'your number'@msg.telus.com

Only works if data is enabled.

Works for me on iPhone with data off and old Samsung flip phone. Been using it for years for contact from desk-bound colleagues.

If the old "Send-a-Message" site worked for the OP, then so will yournumber@msg.telus.com

Why not just get him a prepaid koodo phone that only has a 15$ per month text only plan. That way if he needs to 911 he can but he can't do anything else besides text and picture message. Since he can navigate to a website, sending a text should be no trouble at all for him. And since it's pre paid he can't run up a bill.
Sorry but I'm not giving an 8 yr old a cell phone. I'd like to know the reasoning for Koodo getting rid of the website option. Also as a working single parent with a bare bones no data non smart phone I can't afford mine let alone another. I think we'd rather eat.

This drives me nuts too. I can not longer send messages to my husband from my home computer.
VERY frustrating. I would like to know why too!
I have not used the site since it's removal and just tried again to see of logic had prevailed, but the tab is stILL not there, so obviously, stupidity wins.
Next phone NOT with Koodo until this changes.

As stated multiple times in this thread, you can easily send a text message to a cellphone from your computer by sending it to 10-digit-number@msg.telus.com.

Just tried it. We'll see if it works.
Thank you tech wizards!
I still resent koodo for being so asinine. :)

Does your son have access to an email acct?
If he does he can send you a text by email to 'your https://mailto:number'@msg.telus.com
and it will come to you as regular txt.

We don't know why Koodo and Telus got rid of the send a message page :(
Corporate decision.

Requires a data convection

I just tried it and you don't need Data.
I sent myself an email to 'your https://mailto:number'@msg.telus.com
and the txt came thru fine with data OFF.

This page can be used for the same functionality I believe.

Now try answering that text other than thru email...

I had tried it from my computer before posting and I received the text just fine. Where you using a non-telus network Chad?

Tried from an off-Koodo phone in the US. Email claims successfully sent, but no reponse on phone at all. Does not inspire confidence, because the casual user will assume that everything is kosher with the successful send.

Even if you did succeed, try answering that text other than thru email... in terms than an 8-year old can understand.

This will only work with a Telus/Koodo number, not with other numbers.

Bob, this seems more of a case of something for the child to send a message to his parent in case of emergencies or a "Can you call the house on your break" kind of situation.

Precisely my point... if the Koodo number is offline, no error message is generated. Doesn't matter how I send the message. The kid will assume all is well.

Do you seriously suggest that using that portal is best for 2-way communication rather than sms<=>sms.

Bob, OP has already stated that they can't afford another phone for texting. The site I provided allows what OP wants to do.

No one is saying that Bob. This is what Slk had setup before for his 8 year old to contact him In emergency and it worked for them.
And I can certainly understand not giving an 8 year old a cell.

https://http://www.smartcell.ca/en/telus...[/quote - your link works like the Koodo page did so thank you for that it's exactly what I wanted.

@Spence - email is NOT an option - one I can't open them on my phone and two I'm dinged $2.50 for each email I can't open because I don't have data.

PS: I'm a she.
