receiving calls from the USA

Incoming long distance from USA . I am getting conflicting information. I have the Canada Wide plan with free calling after 5 and weekends. If I receive a call from the USA, will I be charged? My Koodo rep said YES, no matter who is making the call. Please advise. I dont want to accept a long distance call from my friends in the USA if I have to pay .50 cents a minute to talk.

OK so all incoming calls are charged the same. After 5pm you won't get charged for any incoming ca from anywhere so long as you are in Canada. Daytime minutes between 8am an 5pm will b used for incoming minutes as well as outgoing and after that you actually get charged overage rates.
I know this should be clear, but can you just say yes or no. If I'm understanding you, as long as I'm in Canada and the call coming in from the USA is after 5 pm or on the weekend, I will NOT be charged. Is this correct?
You can never be charged for a long distance incoming call. This goes for nearly all phone providers. The initiator of the call pays the long distance.
Someone calls you from united states: No long distance charge to you.
Thank you! Please advise your sales reps as I was told it didn't matter if I was calling out or accepting a long distance call to the USA, either way I was going to be charged 50 cents a minute if I accepted the call.
I do not work for Koodo, this is just how I have always known receiving long distance calls to work no matter what provider you are with (the caller incurs the charges). My father calls me in Canada to my Koodo line from the states regularly. I never incur any long distance charges and this is how my home line works also. Regular rates/daytime minutes (unless after 5) etc will apply.

Just to add, the above is true as long as you have a Canada wide plan. If you opt for one of the marginally cheaper plans with local minutes only, then you will be charged long distance for any call received when you are outside of your local calling area.

Shayne is right. You don't get long distance charges when you receive calls while you are in Canada. It doesn't matter if the calls from USA , Japan, or Europe... etc. But it use your minutes if you receive them during daytime (outside of your unlimited window).
on the home phone is there a unlimited window ?

The basic plan for the wireless home phone includes unlimited Canada wide calling at any time of day. What, pray tell, would you need an unlimited window for?

We have the unlimited any time minutes ,so would that not be okay for someone from the states to call us then anytime?

Its just confusing when they said we would be charged for long distance from the states when getting calls on our home phone!

There is no charge for receiving calls FROM the US. There is a charge of $0.50/minute for placing calls TO the US.

Surprising, as incoming calls to the WHP no matter their origin have no additional charges associated with them. Some mobile phone plans do, if you travel from your home location in Canada.
