Married & want to do a name change


As simply as the title. I want to change my last name on my account as I've been married for a few years and would like it updated. I don't feel that I should be charged for my own name update... is this available in the Self Serve yet, because I can't find it. I want to bring my hubby's phone over and think it would be easier.

No way to perform this yourself. My wife's name was spelled incorrectly when our account was set up and I still haven't got around to changing it.

A simple change like this can be done with a customer service agent over the phone, there is no fee invovled. Just call 1-866-995-6636 and select option 5. The $25 fee for name change only applies to transfers of ownership for when you change the name on the account to someone else entirely.

You can either do the transfer of ownership, or when on the account, you cannot change the Account name, but you can change the suscribers name to the proper one. If you do it this way, go into there nearest Koodo Store to you. Tell them you want to change the suscribers name, give them the name you want there, and as them to put that name as an Account Ministrator 🙂

You can change the account name in the event of a marriage. I have seen a few postings of yours that result in a trip to the kiosk when a call to Koodo would suffice. Your suggestions are appreciated and respected but please provide correct information when posting 🙂

Oh I know what you mean, but sometimes when making to changes to the account, even if it just the simpliest thing, it is a $10 cost. As a rep, I prefer handling the customers directly. Because I did have a couple customer complain about a service charge! It is correct posting 🙂 just asking to go in instead of calling, either way a rep or calling can do the same thing 🙂 but understandable! 🙂

In that case, the reps that are charging for a name change due to marriage, divorce, or legal name change are not following the procedure correctly. Those changes are free. Nothing against the store reps at all. Sometimes it is more convenient to call instead of go to the store 🙂

It definitely is more convenient to call cause it saves a trip, just depends on the rep you get on the phone! 😛
