Koodo said my phone number was not available for transfer, but it is... now what?


My phone number is with Primus now. It used to be my Bell landline. Now its an internet number but Primus said it is available for transfer anytime. I helped my husband join Koodo and this is when they said our number was not good. The techs at Primus said they just had to call them to get the number and it would be released. I don't see where I can get in contact with Koodo to work this out. The phone and plan was ordered today but I want my old number. What can I do? Any ideas?

If Koodo doesn't offer the area code that you want to try and bring in (since originally it was a bell landline) then that can prevent a port. It doesn't matter what Primus has to say. Have you talked to Koodo over the phone and asked what the reason is exactly? They should be able to provide the exact reason. If it can't be ported, it can't be ported.
Oh.. I thought 613 was a well established area code... but I don't know how to reach Koodo, I thought I could only ask through the community. I appreciate your response but would like to address them directly if possible.

Thank you Chad. I will do this. If I can't have my old number, it is still okay..its been our home and business number for 11 years so its hard to switch. 😉

If it's critical to maintain your business contacts, there are other solutions. Port your number to a VoIP service and then have calls re-directed to your cell or any other landline. Hope it works OK by talking with Koodo. Please get back to us either way. (613) is not exactly an obscure area code.

Our number couldn't be ported for a long time, and just before I was about to switch to Fido, Koodo allowed me to port it in. Don't know what the change was. The area code is common but the middle three digits was more the problem. I think my home number was regulated or something, but I don't know why Fido could port it. I also tried to port it to Voip but they couldn't as they didn't have service in that area.
