Koodo @ Londonderry Mall in Edmonton will not sell a phone at retail price. They insist on charging prepaid phone price to add a phone!

Koodo @ Londonderry mall in Edmonton refuses to sell a phone at the displayed price? They claimed that I would have to pay $250 to buy the phone as a prepaid, even though the phone is listed as $150 with no tab! The rep called his manager who agreed with him. You don't even want to know why I need another phone, and can't use my tab to replave the last one. Koodo customer support says they can't do anything about it, and both the Koodo Kiosk, and the support center act as if they can not communicate with each other!! Why are they all acting so unprofessionally?

Do you have their names? If you have a monthly account, then you have every right to buy a Koodo phone out right at the post paid price. Im in Edmonton. I usually go to the City Center location. They are the best Koodo Kiosk in the city from my experiences
Thanks Dennis. I do not have their names, but the kiosk has sure changed since I bought my first phone there many years ago. I DO have a monthly account, ans they refused to sell me the phone at the listed price. They claimed that I had to pay the price for a "pre-paid" phone! I have FOUR phones on my account. I expect better service for a long time customer. I would like to go to City Center, but work out of town, and won't be back for months. By then my 15 day "Money Back Guarantee" will be no longer honoured. Only in this predicament because of a Koodo billing error in the first place. Seriously considering moving all my phones to another provider. Just been wronged so much lately.... Thanks again for the advice Dennis

Do you have a tab owing on that line? If so then you would need to pay that tab off in full first and then you should be able to buy the new phone outright.

If you have an owing balance on a tab you can still purchase the phone at full price without tab.

I stand corrected, I apologize I thought this was how it was from the time the new tab structure was put into place. Sorry ignore my comment above

@Aaron are you trying to buy the phone without activating them? If yes I think that maybe the reason why they don't want the phone to walk and possibly used with other providers.

Isn't that a bit vigilante? Next they are going to check if the customer actually takes the phone home and doesn't sneak it off to an aunty or something...

I'm ocd about my phones. When I buy I tell them not to open it. I open it in a controlled environment surrounded by blankets and pillows in the floor and no rings on my fingers. I also tell them I'll swap in my existing sim into the new phone. Never an issue at city center Edmonton Koodo. They smile and nod.

Rudy is correct, if you are wanting to just buy it outright and not have it touch an account then they are probably going to charge the prepaid price because its not attached to an account. A lot of places you may go wont even sell you a phone if its not getting attached to an account. PS its kinda different seeing a post in my own backyard as Im in that mall weekly visiting some of my stores there.

I'm exactly the same Dennis and have made the guy go back and bring me out one he didn't open and touch.... He did not smile and nod, he looked at me like a was a freaking nut job. Koodo is actually the only one who said they understand and gladly gave me the phone and allowed me to do everything myself at home without any further questioning or weird looks, it's one of the biggest reasons I stuck with koodo for so long as

Postpaid customers are able to purchase a phone at any time at the regular retail cost. Period and end of story. What happened at the store should not have happened.

Exactly what Ahmad said. I've done this several times myself.
Hi all. Thanks for the replies. Some clarification... My phone failed on my birthday (crappy). Went to check my balance at the website. They added a charge that they say they missed in 2012 of $142.12. Then they added it two more times by mistake. My tab was under 120 bucks, now it is very close to $500. It is going to take up to 5 business days to fix the billing error, so I had to either pay another $500 to replace the phone I paid $700 for only 17 months ago. ****Update**** Just went to the self serve site. They made an adjustment THE WRONG WAY!!! Now my tab is over $900. Seriously considering moving my business to another provider. I have many phones on this account. I should not be treated this way. Really upset now.
Update again. Billing issue resolved. Thanks to Roberto and team at Koodo! Still upset with Londonderry store. Never going back, no matter how convenient the location is. Never!
