I am travelling to the Dominican in April and would like to text to Canada and receive texts from Canada for 2 weeks while I am away. Would this be costly, how do i set it up?

Thanks

When you mentioned you want to send "text" you meant SMSand MMS (not WhatsApp, Facebook)? If you want to use SMS,it will be costly for 2 weeks roaming with Koodo. There are 2 options. One is using easyroam. The other is pay per use. Detail information is here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/easyroam

If you use a data based messaging system like Facebook messenger or whatsapp, you can send messages without any roaming fees via wifi and you could also get a local data only prepaid sim to send these messages too.

Have you considered downloading an app that can send and receive texts, such as Fongo Mobile, during the duration of your holiday? You will get a Canadian number.

It will require a wifi connection or cellular data for it to work, but it only costsĀ $3.99 for one month of global texting, which you can include as an add-on.

The voip options as mentioned come out to be much cheaper. It's always free to receive texts anywhere in the world with Koodo, but it's the outgoing charges that will be costly. Here is some info on prepaid options in DR for data to use the voip or other data based messaging platforms:
