Hi Sandi,

Here are the steps you will need to follow:
  1. Start off by picking out a rate-plan that interests you here.
  2. If your phone is android, go to step 3. If your phone is iPhone, you will need to get bell to unlock it for you for a fee. After you pay bell to unlock it, you will need to perform a factory reset of the device before the unlock is complete.
  3. [b]Go to your nearest Koodo retail location (See them here) and tell them you want to activate a new account and keep your phone number from bell. Make sure you bring some ID with you (health card is not valid) and either a credit card or SIN for a credit check.
  4. Upon passing the credit check, the rep will call Bell, cancel your account with them and transfer your current phone number to your new Koodo account.
  5. Everything should be all set! If you are having trouble using data or sending MMS messages, please follow the following instructions: iPhone or Android
That should be all the info you need, please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Sandi,

Here are the steps you will need to follow:

  • Start off by picking out a rat...

  • Just to clarify one little thing from this very detailed list (good job!). We cannot actually call Bell and cancel your account on your behalf. Have your Bell account number with you when you come to the Koodo kiosk, with that information we will be able to port in your number. Once the port in is completed, your Bell account will automatically be set to cancel for the end of your billing cycle. If you have an amount left to pay for your device with Bell, it will be charged to your final invoice. Welcome aboard! 🙂

  • what happens if your bell account is a prepaid one, like mine, and all I have is my phone number, no account number.

  • If you want to keep your phone, you'll need to get Bell to unlock it for a $50 fee. If it's an iPhone, you'll have to get Bell to do it. If it's an Android, you can get Bell to do it or use a third party website which usually offer cheaper rates.

  • I've never had any issues porting any PPD numbers from Bell, Virgin, Rogers, Fido, or Wind to a Koodo Postpaid account.  I've never had the opportunity to attempt to port a number from either Telus PPD or Koodo PPD.  Or Chatr for that matter.

  • thanks for the info. The Koodo store person told me I needed my Bell Prepaid account number to transfer my phone number to Koodo, and if I didn't have it I'd have to get a new phone number. I'd like to keep my number, so maybe I'll go back to the store and try again. I have a Koodo Android phone that I got from a friend of mine that just upgraded to a new Koodo phone.

  • So I did switch over to Koodo today. But Koodo store said it could not be done without having my Bell account number. So I called Bell and got my account number, the switch over worked fine.

I just went through the process..my contract was coming to an end at Bell...but my wife had term remaining on a phone we purchased on my account, we shared data. Just to be sure that my phone was compatible with the Koodo Network( unlocked Android ) I went to a kiosk to ensure there wasn't going to be any issues and verified with a Koodo demo SIM...We then unlocked my wife's phone through Bell, prepared to pay off the outstanding balance on her phone and switched! It was easy...the ONLY issue I ran into during the process was a temporary loss of my contact list, easily remedied by a temporary switch and upload from my Bell SIM...There were no issues with my wife's IPhone. As Mathieu explained...its an easy process as long as your credit is fine...Its been a few weeks since we switched and are more than happy so far with the features of the plans that we selected.

How long did it take? I'm with Bell and switching to Koodo, I just submitted the request form to port my current number. How long does it take? How will I know it's done?

I never submitted any form anywhere , best of my recollection...I went to a Koodo kiosk and it was done within a half hour...

Annnnd by the way...Im totally happy with the service, signal strength, etc dealing with Koodo..five years ago...Bell had my Internet, my TV, my LAN line, and my mobile...and were gouging me to the point of something like $50.00 a week or so..today they have NOTHING...I stream what I want to watch on Internet that I purchase through Eastink ( another series of positive experiences) and really, who needs a LAN line anymore?

Hi Jess! Sorry for the delay in answering. Sometimes it can take a little longer to transfer your number but it shouldn't take longer than 2 business days. Hope all is good and that your account is up and running :)

What exactly is the problem you are having? Are you trying to port a number to Koodo from another carrier? This can be done via self serve: http://help.koodomobile.com/self-serve/using-self-serve/How-do-I-move-my-phone-number-in-Self-Serve-1
