Do I wait for the next bill or can I leave as soon as I pay the tab?

As soon as you pay the Tab. Or if you intend to transfer the phone # to another provider, don't even bother cancelling. Just go activate with the new provider and give them your account number from Koodo to port it and you will be automatically disconnected from Koodo.
