Distinct French and English Communities?

Since we have a distinct society in Canada and Koodo operates in French perhaps the community needs a extra section? There has been talk that there is no need: http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/why_no_french_koodo_community Any there might be a similar idea in french? http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/19790b0hg4a04 (You would not be interesting for Francophone clients to have a tab to see the questions and answers in French? I talked to several of my friends and my relatives and hardly anyone know this forum (family and friends speaking of course). There could be a "mobile master" who is speaking too.) Again, Koodo operates in both French and English...perhaps it's time to separate the items?

I agree this community needs a french section, or at the very least the ability to view this community in french, similar to how the Koodo website works, if Get Satisfaction allows for it.

A better solution, IMHO, than splitting the forum in 2 would be this: 1) Have a bilingual forum homepage which tells people they're welcome to post in the language they prefer. 2) Have EN and FR checkboxes when writing a post. Each post would have either an EN or FR tag in the list of posts. 3) Have the option to search the forums within all posts, EN ones or FR ones. That's where the checkboxes/tags are important. Searching through ALL posts, regarless of language, is also a good way to avoid diluting information. All the knowledge on these forums needs to be pooled, like it is right now. 4) Have the option to show/hide the posts with a language filter. No need to see posts in a language you don't understand, unless you want to learn it (which is good!) That's just my opinion, but I think it would address concerns about the language issues in the forum! Feel free to add your ideas!

http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/19790b0hg4a04 The translate button is already present on Firefox and Chrome, I do not see the use of having a translate button directly programmed onto the forum. Basically, Topper and I had proposed everything Topper just listed. This way you do not dilute the community and those who are bilingual would have access to both answers in french and english to find the answers they need. I think that the biggest challenge for Koodo is to be able to do anything to the interface without having GetSat involved. I hope they do this very soon, I can a lot of french speaking people getting involved in the community once they do this !

Yup! I'm curious to see what it's gonna be like once it's done too. If they split it in two halves, then so be it, but I really wish it stays whole.

You can't always see the other threads easily Ahmad. Hence the reason people post another thread sometimes.

Then why isn't it implemented?

We, Francophones we need FR Tab to be added to the page, it'l cost nothing to Getsatisfaction if it wants Koodo to be satisfied about their service, it should add FR & EN languages, This is Canada not USA, official languages in Canada are English + French, all French speaking posters will agree with me, We need the FR button to be added to Koodo Community portal. period... no offense meaning..

Mat, Agreed, bu also Canada recognizes the native languages; to me the issue is Koodo operates in FRENCH and ENGLISH but the community doesn't seem to model that bilingualism. GetSasification is merely a CMS, I am sure it can be tweaked in a day for a programmer with a case of beer and a bucket of chicken. (I know that's how I used to code when I was 20)

Sumaya Koodo employee confirmed that Koodo is just planning to do that, date to be confirmed on this post http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/french_version_of_koodo_community Thank you Koodo!

Hey Geoff, There were others that have suggested the same idea. It's currently under "Planned", but a date will need to be confirmed 🙂

I would love to see a translate button on each reply / comment since I do 95% of my reading / helping on a mobile device where browser based translation isn't available.

I recommended that, but only because I was too lazy to use Google Translate LOL

Lazy Dennis or innovative? There was a time you drive in for gas and they checked your tires, cleaned your windows, checked the fluids and of course pumped the gas. All that continued until some attendant was smart enough to say: "get your self." Now Self Service is the economical choice 😉
