ChildTrac GPS system

I live in Northern Ontario. I am about to purchase a ChildTrac GPS system for my autistic daughter. The GPS tracker works with any cell sim but I don't know what plan I should be looking at...I want to stay with Koodo, I've been with them for 3+ years. Would this GPS work with Koodo (manufacturer says yes, petro Canada mobility is their suggestion and provides 15$ free sim pay as you go at purchase). Suggestions?

First of all what phone does she have? It might help us answer the question In principle it should work with every phone that has location services
It isn't a phone. It is a GPS tracker but has two way calling tech as well. The manufacturing website is ChildTrac.ca

[i]"The CHILDTRAC System requires a SIM Card that includes Voice, Text Messaging, and Call Display in its rate plan. When the CHILDTRAC System responds to an Instant Locate request, it sends a text message containing co-ordinates and a map link. *In order to view the map directly on your phone, it must be web-enabled". I can't see this device using up too much data, but that might be a question to ask the manufacturer. If going with a prepaid plan, you could go with a $15 baseplan, a $5 or $10 Canada-wide Talk Booster Add-on and a **$10 Data Booster Add-on. (Booster add-ons don’t expire). You're looking at between $30 and $35 plus tax for prepaid. If you went with a monthly lightweight plan, you'd be looking at $28 plus tax. Both prepaid and monthly rate plans meet all of the requirements set out by the manufacturer of CHILDTRAC.
