Callers within my own area code cannot get thru without dialing long distance with the "1" in front of the area code. The either can’t get thru at all, or they get a message that says they must dial long distance.

Area code 204.

Do you mean people calling you must enter 1 first to reach you?

Yes - even though they are in my same area code and have never had to do that before.

Are you the same area code as them?

yes

I'd suggest sending a private message to Koodo via Facebook messenger or dm via Twitter to have a ticket opened to get technical support.

204 covers all of Manitoba.

Which town/city is your number based? And where are they calling you from?

Indeed. It's the first six digits that determine whether a number is long distance, not just the area code.

Winnipeg to Winnipeg. Literally tried calling from the land line to the cell phone in the same house and couldn’t get thru.

Has his always happened or just recently?

Had the same problem on outgoing calls. Simple workaround: all my contacts have the” 1” prepended to the area code. Nothing barks when used that way, and not an issue if you have Canada-wide calling.
