Call forwarding from a land phone ?


Hey guys ! Quick question, can we activate/deactivate/setup call forwarding from a land phone instead of our cell phone ?

If you are talking about setting up call forwarding on the cell phone but using a land phone to do it...no. You need to set it up using the cell phone.

Hey Claude, If you're referring to forwarding your calls from your landline to your mobile phone, then this is possible as long as your landline provider offers that option. If you're referring to anything else other than the above or forwarding your calls from your mobile, then it's not possible. ________________________ If you see a good answer, give it a star.

Question Kahleila. I forward my land line calls to my Koodo Phone. Now I receive a forwarded call on my Koodo phone from the land line. Does Koodo charge me ANYTHING EXTRA, for the incomming calls forwarded to my Koodo phone?

Just standard airtime usage according to your plan.

See my comment below: you get charged .35 plus minutes off your allotment. It doesn't matter if it is *to* your phone, you still get charged.

I thought there might be a $1.50 charge or something. Good to know that I have yet another useful tool on my phone and at no extra cost. Thanks Koodo!

That may be the pay per use rate for call forwarding without the addon.

I have Canada Wide Super 6G I don't remember seeing call forwarding on my plan. Will have to check that. Do you know how much the add on costs?

Forwarding from landline to koodo phone: only standard airtime charged to koodo phone Forwarding from koodo phone to landline: $0.35/minute (on super 6 GB plan) unless you have the $3 call forwarding add on.

I know how to setup setup/activate/deactivate on my cell phone. You guys have shown me the right way to do it with the link you provided in this thread. Thanks The question was (sorry for lousy english) can I setup/activate/deactivate call forwarding but instead using my cell phone, use a terrestrial phone line. For example, your cell phone is dead or you forgot it somewhere and you want to make changes in the call forwarding configuraions. If I get this correctly, it is NOT possible to do this from a terrestrial phone line. In order to setup call forwarding, we need absolutely our koodo cell phone and follow instructions as shown in this thread. Thanks again everybody !
Well, I discovered that when I activate call-forwarding on my Sasktel landline account, and receive a forwarded call from Sasktel on my Koodo phone, Koodo charges me $0.35 per minute, even though my Koodo account has 400 unused minutes, unlimited incoming calls, and unlimited long distance. Somewhat surprising. How is that different from anyone calling my Koodo phone directly from anywhere in Canada?

Cart b4 the horse.... I give out my VoIP number as my main number. It forwards/hunts/simultaneous rings wherever I am: Canada most of the time, US while on winter vacation. I can also rent a "local" incoming number so that my neighbour 2 doors down doesn't have to call Canada to reach me in Arizona, because he won't, of that I can assure you! Entire Canadian family calls me at local rates. (Depending on your family, this can be a plus or a minus). All decent VoIP suppliers are equipped to do this quite cheaply. Whole VoIP shebang runs about $10 a month, including about 250 minutes of incoming/outgoing calls anywhere in NorthAmerica. Everyone (Koodo, VoIP) charges standard plan minutes for forwarding. Better to be paying Ø or 1.4 cents a minute than cell rates any day of the week. You can control the VoIP over the internet thru your phone, but not the other way around. Works for me. YMMV.
I verified with a Koodo customer service rep that even if a call is being forwarded from another provider to my Koodo phone, a Koodo charge of .35 applies, unless you have subscribed to Koodo's call forwarding. That's .35 regardless of how many minutes you have, or what time of day. In other words, it doesn't matter which direction the forwarding is travelling or when. The solution? Don't answer a forwarded call. Then call back on your regular plan if there is a call display number, or get your voice mail and get the number that way.

If we didn't have the CRTC, we'd probably be forced into an all-Bell or all-Telus arrangement just that you could get that feature!
