Blacklist question...

I have a question about the blacklist for IMEI number. How does this blacklist get updated to all the Canadian carriers? Is list update frequency different between each carriers? How does it work? Only the carrier that blacklisted can get it off the list? Is that how it works? Google tells me, my IMEI number is not blacklisted as far as they can see from their system. I checked my IMEI number from http://www.protectyourdata.ca/check-the-status-of-your-device-in-canada/ It shows that my IMEI is NOT blacklisted. I also, checked my number from Bell website, It says "My device is compatible and I can bring it to Bell", meaning not blacklisted. Now I check my IMEI number from Telus/Koodo (you can see that clicking SUBMIT connects website to Telus.) http://help.koodomobile.com/getting-started-with-koodo/sim-cards-and-non-koodo-phones/how-do-i-know-if-my-phone-will-work-on-the-koodo-network This site tells me my IMEI is reported to be stolen or lost. So what is going on here? Telus/Koodo have some sort of in-house blacklisting only? Because my Koodo sim isn't working with my phone but Fido sim I tested is working perfectly on this same phone which I have had bought directly from Google at release date + I had Koodo service for many months. Only the carrier who blacklisted the device can remove it from the list? Why can't Koodo see who made the report? They could surely see when the report was made! ProtectYourData website does say it can take upto 48hours for database to be updated. So I shall wait and see.... but again... how come Koodo's checking site is telling me my IMEI has been reported? I think I will give Koodo support a call when it's open and ask to review my account history log for anything strange for past few weeks. This is all frustrating and strange. I just want my service to work again. OMG

Your phone was reported lost/stolen either on Koodo or TELUS, and will soon be added to the national list and after that, it cannot be used on any provider in Canada. In your previous thread, you wrote that Koodo told you to contact Google. This has nothing to do with Google. If you bought this phone directly from Google or Koodo (TELUS Communications Company) and NOT from a third party seller on eBay, Kijiji etc, file a complaint with the CCTS: https://www.ccts-cprst.ca/complaints/complaint-form Don't waste your time with front level Koodo reps from the other side of the world. After the CCTS processes your complaint, some high level Canadian rep will contact you within a few hours (unless they are slow now, or outsourcing that stuff too). If you bought the phone from a third party seller, then you are out of luck. See if you can get Google to replace your phone (which probably won't happen), or get your IMEI changed at a local cellphone shop (which people say is illegal, but who cares).

Is it true that anyone from Telus/Koodo can blacklist any IMEI?

Hi xxgg, a Telus/Koodo customer can only blacklist his/her own phone. Thank you.

Great, maybe you can help me figure out why my phone became blacklisted. It has to be done by Telus/Koodo since check my IMEI number from Koodo site shows that my phone is blacklisted, but when checking from CWTA site it is still listed as NOT blacklisted.
Maybe you could help me resolve this since calling in 3 times didn't help.

What do you say? But than again... True or Not, I would expect any employee to say that is the truth. I am in customer service too, I know.

You'll notice that I wrote "Telus/Koodo" customer 🙂 Since you were talking about employees, it is different then. We can indeed flag phones. Concerning your situation, it's hard to say as we can't access accounts from here. I believe you may have sent us some tweets about it as well. Please send us an email using this link http://koo.do/11eMLdy and select the category "Social Media". Thank you.

This would be a technical issue but you want me to select social media? Would that forward it to you? Hope you have same system access or be able to escalate this issue.

"Hi xxgg, a Telus/Koodo customer can only blacklist his/her own phone. Thank you." Yannick, if you would like me to prove that I can blacklist any phone using Koodo Self-Serve or TELUS My Account, give me your IMEI number. I am the one who sent those tweets. ^^

Yes, that way we'll be able to find your email faster and forward it to the proper team! Thanks.

Couldn't edit my previous post because Yannick posted right after it. Add this to that post: I am just a customer of Koodo&TELUS. Waiting for a response from Ben Klass before I tell you how it works.

Hellothere: via Self Serve, when you click on "Lost/Stolen phone", you'll only be able to suspend & flag the handset that is registered on the account. Self Serve will not give you the option to enter another phone. Thank you.

HelloThere, but one would need to access that account+password? Or ONLY IMEI number? Also I assume you are saying that you can do it... Adsuming you can't be traced back? Or are you able to access their self serve simplybeith IMEI ? Maybe too much detail for you to answer there.

Does that mean I am SOL? If not, why can't Koodo fix this for?
But than again... when I visited Telus corp. Store sales person told me i would need to unlock Moto E if I wanted to use with Koodo. There and than.. I just walked out from that store. (+not in stock)

We can guarantee that Telus iPhones will work with us without being unlocked. Other phones might work as well (some members in the community can confirm that) but you would need to try first. We do sell the Moto E though http://koo.do/1OfDrzq 🙂

But it is only $150 at Telus for same phone prepaid.

Hellothere: here is an example of what Self Serve looks like when reporting a lost/stolen phone. As you can see, there is no option to edit the "equipment" section. Thanks.

Fellows, since we need to have access to the account in order to find out what's happening, and to avoid confusing other community members due to many assumptions and claims, I'm closing this thread. xxgg: As soon as we get your email, we'll have a look into it and we'll get back to you. Thank you.
