Blackberry phones haven't been made in Canada for more than a year now. Even the software is just an android reskin, which is like repainting a made in America car and slapping a "made in Canada" for on it because it was painted here.

@ Don, indeed we are considering this to be our lineup. Likely in limited distribution. It's hard to tell how public will react and whether the love you show BB is widespread. 🙂 We shall see.
Blackberry phones are excellent. Next phone possibly a blackberry motion. Sent from my Z10.
Blackberry back on the Board.  4 years later.  Tim0 - if this was a paintjob - then those offices in Ottawa should probably vacate their spray booth - The design basis sits in their vaults. if you drive, bank, use a hospital or have a passport - blackberry is behind it in some form.  So out of the paint booth it comes. Built by TCL - secured by Blackberry. Stand proud man.

While I freely admit that blackberry was once a tech giant, the honest truth is that their market share has cratered from a peak of 20% in 2009 to a mere 0.1% today. They no longer manufacture their own hardware, which is produced under license by TCL, nor do they any longer maintain their own OS, but instead they're simply putting their own skin on android. You can choose to use whatever phone you like, even if it's due to some misplaced sense of pride that they were once a Canadian success story, but don't expect many carriers to sell a phone that only 1 in 1000 people actually wants.

Timo - your tone is really is not good. The comment about misplaced sense of pride - really?  Who are you to apply the personal comment?  Stay professional and focused,  Simply enjoy the day that Koodo - Telus and others are now selling the Blackberry Phones. Simple. Don't hack at Koodo members and their opinions in such a personal manner.

...said the pot to the kettle. Your last comment was literally "stand proud man.", the implication being that I should somehow feel a sense of patriotic pride that blackberry was once great. I don't work for koodo. None of the mobile masters do. All of us are simply koodo customers, albeit very knowledgeable ones. If you have the right to comment here saying that is fantastic that blackberry phones are available, I have just as much right to express my opinion.

Mobile Masters are not employees and I don't generally think it unprofessional to give an opinion of what's wrong with a phone / company. I don't believe in automatic loyalty for location. I'd love to buy a BlackBerry again but I don't consider this to be worth it for 605. They need to run a business model that will actually let thek recover to some extent, and injust don't see it outside of software.

@ Don, You and Timo are equally NOT employed by Koodo. 🙂 You can certainly duke it out on a personal level on relevant topics as long as no pride is hurt in the process. :-)

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

The mere fact that an entity is Canadian does not entitle them to a free pass in the interest of national pride.

este foro no es de habla hispana ¿Puedes hablar en inglés o francés? ¿Qué quieres saber sobre BlackBerry Motion?
I see very clear how you guys get the points and become Masters.  I'm up to 120.  Commenting on a great Canadian company becoming great again and a great national carrier providing access to the Canadian engineered product designed and engineered in Quebec and Ontario putting Canada yet again on the world stage for excellence in communications and security.  Today we remember why we have freedom of speech.

The motion is not designed nor engineered by BlackBerry anymore. I believe the KEYone was the last one? Or the one before it I forget which. It's all TCL in house now.
Goran Thanks.  But BB is not a phone manufacturer. The Motion - the Keyone - the DTEKs were built by TCL. The software is BB.  The most secure Android on the Planet. The underlying QNX - yet another great Canadian product - owned by BB is the software used to interface many of the products of software they use even if Droid is the top layer. This security is in a Hardware chip that must be placed in the phone at production. BB is a new company today and I personally wish them success. Companies and Government's especially believe this - as no other manufacturer, including apple have the certifications they currently hold. And this is not opinion - its in the public disclosures and certainly the tech community at large.
BlackBerry has come back a long way over the last three years, rebuilding itself from the maker of highly secure cell phones to the provider of highly secure software and services for cell phones — among other devices. The company’s senior leadership acknowledges that they still have some distance to go to complete their turnaround. But looking forward, they see more opportunities on the landscape than dangers, and think that they are now in a much better position to take the next step forward.
“With autonomous cars, we are not building the brain, like Google or Uber,” he said. “We build the platform that they run on. So both Google and Uber are our customers.”

BlackBerry is thriving on business but not on consumer unfortunately. I think there was a MobileSyrup story about Blackberry considering on dropping consumer electronics completely. Gladly, they made it work with partnership of TCL.
