Are monthly customers entitled to purchase a phone outright?

My understanding is, regardless if you're purchasing the phone outright or using the tab again, the tab must be paid off before you upgrade. I could be wrong though.

You can buy it outright Ivan. But phone has to be activated on their network at time of purchase.

In terms of cost, isn't it the same? If you have a Tab and want to buy a phone outright, then you pay down the Tab then apply the same amount to the Tab for the phone you want to buy outright. In the end, you Tab is where it was before and your out-of-pocket expense it the same as if you bought the phone outright. Example: Your Tab is $75. You want to buy the Moto G for $150. Your cost if you buy it outright: +$150 Alternatively: Pay down the Tab: +$75 Cost of Moto G: +$150 Use the same Tab amount on Moto G: -$75 Total cost = $150 (Tab stays the same, and out-of-pocket cost is the same as if you bought it outright). It's really just a round-about way of doing it.

What about if your tab is $400? It's most definitely not the same. 😉 In any case, I got my answer. Thank you all.
