Activating a prepaid phone on a postpaid account?

I just bought a Nokia Lumia 520 at Walmart and the sales rep told me it would be possible to activate it on my existing postpaid account... tried to do a self serve phone swap and it says the sim# is invalid. Is it possible to activate this phone on my existing postpaid account?

The phones are identical between prepaid and postpaid. The only difference is the sim cards. Does this phone take a different size of sim card than your previous phone? If not, just move the sim from the old phone to the new one. Is the sim card you got with the new phone a prepaid sim or a postpaid sim? Because prepaid sim cards cannot be activated on a postpaid account.

That's what all the girls say. 😉
Ya sadly the new prepaid phone has a micro sim card that is different than the one in my old phone.. so I'm guessing it just wont be possible to use this phone on my existing account?

You would be able to, but you can't activate a prepaid sim on a postpaid account. You will likely need to go back to the shop and pick up a postpaid sim card to use. Ideally they should be able to activate the card on your account there so they know it will activate. Once you have a postpaid sim that fits registered on your account the phone should connect no problem.
