ZTE Home Phone Connection to Cell network is intermittent.

Our ZTE Home Phone normally has good signal strength, but lately it is intermittently losing connection altogether. The connection icon is RED during these periods of no service.  I have checked the antenna connection, rebooted the device, removed and replaced SIM and battery but nothing helps. When the home phone has lost signal (RED), our other cell phones work fine on the same network. Any suggestions out there? Is my ZTE box defective?

Hi,
If it's less the 12 month I recommend you go to a Koodo boutique and ask them to troubleshoot or send the box to the repair center. Try to place next to a window with clear sky view, no "next door building" in the way.

You should, in theory, get the exact same connection on the box then your cellphones but real life doesn't always follow the theories.

Good luck

Thanks, but unfortunately, it has been over 12 months. The box has a good 'view' and has worked in that spot well for over a year.

in that specific case, contact client care and ask for tech support; they can test your WHP signal strength and propose a solution.

Check the signal strength on your Android cell phone when it's in the same position as your home hub. Ignore the bars, but go into Settings => About phone or similar. You should see a signal strength in numbers such as -85 db. A lower absolute value of number is better (-65 db is much better reception than -100). Any number larger than 110 will give no reception at all, 100 is passable, 90 is getting good and reliable, etc. The numbers will normally fluctuate ± 5.

You will notice that the signal bars are not really a very good indication of signal strength as they don't update that quickly.

If you are in a rural or marginal signal area, any new construction in the neighbourhood and the return of foliage can affect reception as well.
