I just got a Xiaomi Hongmi/Quad-core 1.5GHz. Can I use it in Koodo?

To add to Paul's answer,

Going by the device description on GSMArena

http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_hongmi...

It *does* support UMTS 1900MHz, which indicates it will work with some of Bellus' towers. So while it will work with the towers operating at these frequencies, coverage will be spotty at best, and you will build a negative opinion of Koodo's otherwise great network and coverage.

This phone was clearly designed for service in Europe/Asia where 2100 MHz dominates. So, will it work? Partially. Do we recommend it? Nope!

Maybe you can re-sell it Jenny?

If you want to ensure optimal functionality on Koodo's network, you need a UMTS (that means 3G, not 2G or GSM) compatible phone that can operate on *both* 850 and 1900 MHz (again, NOT GSM or 2G, but 3G, sometimes called WCDMA, which itself needs not be confused with CDMA)
