What phone do you use? Likely the charges are correct, you may not have been aware of it fully. Your phone is a computer in your pocket and as such will get various updates, apps will be running in the background etc. Turn them off to avoid charges in the future.

This reply is not satisfactory since charges levied are long distance call charges shown as calls made to India, whereas I did not make calls directly to India from this number.
Pl review and clarify.

Huh? The reply is not satisfactory? :-) My friend, I'm just a customer like you and I'm doing my best to help based on the info you gave. You said, you got internet charges on your bill. But now you say it's long distance charges? Which is it?

If you say you have long distance charge to India from your phone that you don't think you made check with anyone else who might have access to your phone. Family members. Happened to us. :-)

Word used was typed wrongly, I meant international calls or we may say long distance calls to India. I made the calls but I used hired ISD. Pl clarify.

What is a hired ISD?

Is it possible that connecting to the ISD has long distance charges associated with it? If the first numbers were other than 1-800, 1-888, 1-877, or 1-866, when you dialled, then you might have been calling an international long distance number to make your further call to India.

Also, any call consumes minutes from your plan, so depending on when you called, and the plan you have, you may have a local minutes charge in addition to any long distance charges. Even calling toll-free numbers uses up local minutes, and if you go over your allotment, you would see fees assessed.

So what exactly is happening? Your calling India but getting charged for data? Or your using internet based calling application and getting charged for long distance minutes?

Hello Ajit,

If you were using a calling card, that’s the most likely reason for the Long Distance charges. We don’t support any calling cards and we would not be able to guarantee that you won’t get charged if you use them.

The good news is that you don’t have to look elsewhere for cheaper calling to India.

Koodo has a monthly add-on called “India 1000 Long Distance Minutes: From within Canada to India”  http://koo.do/koodoadd-ons, that for only $20/month offers you 1000 minutes to use for calls from Canada to India.

When your 1000 minutes are exceeded, additional long distance costs 2¢/min. Anytime minutes also apply.

If you have any further questions and you would like us to privately review your account, send us an email with your inquiries at this secured link: http://koo.do/11eMLdy, and we will get back to you.

Thank you!
