With kodoo prepaid, is there email to text notification service? (so can I recieve an sms saying i have an email from [sender's name]?)

I'm with fido and they have this email to text service that I somehow activated many years ago. Also, in my gmail forward settings, I also made it so that all my emails get forwarded to my fido email account (xxxxxxxxxx@fido.ca). So I get a text message about the sender every signle time I get an email. Once I get a text, i can reply to it with 'more' or 'read' which shows me the first 160 characters of the email.

I activated both of these many years ago and can't remember if the wireless provider has to have the service available and I have to do something with them, and also if I have to go into the gmail settings to forward all my emails to my fido email. But can kodoo do this for android phones? I'm thinking of switching to kodoo but I need this service on kodoo if I switch. Also, does it require data to be on to work?

Thanks

You can use either @msg.telus.com or @msg.koodomobile.com.
@msg.telus sends as an SMS
@msg.koodomobile sends as a MMS

@Frank Piccolo,
   You can sent an email to 10digitphonenumber@msg.telus.com or  10digitphonenumber@msg.kodomobile.com from most email services, and it will be sent to that customer.

@Jevin Min,
  The email, if small enough will be delivered as a text message. Long emails will fail. You cannot reply to the email from the text App, as to my knowledge,  there is no facility for text to email through the carrier interface - you would need to send from an email client.

Too cool! Thanks, David.
Tried <my number>@msg.koodomobile.com (does not work with @koodomobile.com)and got a text msg. I could also reply to it and I got the reply as an email.

Exactly. I'm on a Mac so the bottom pic is iMessage which received sms from non -apple friends. There, in green, I replied with "I'll bring the booze" which I received (or whomever sent you the original email) as email seen in 1st pic.

A few notes.
Koodo does not offer email addresses
You would require data to be turned on, although message data is zero rated. Koodo also offers a $2 per month data block preventing all data except MMS from being consumed by your phone.
Koodo does not offer a service to exactly mimic what you currently use, so you would need to set up another option, or buy a small amount of data for emails.

but can't I make gmail forward my emails to my telus or kodoo email where I get a txt about the email?
or is this just not possible?

I think you can. So in Gmail settings you'd have it forward emails to <yournumber>@msg.koodomobile.com
The only caveat, as David mentioned above, is that long emails may be delivered which makes sense.
