Will koodo continue charging me after I terminate my account immediately

Hi all,

I am on a month-to-month plan with Koodo, and there are still 24 days more till my billing cycle. If I terminate my service today, will I be credited back 24 days of none usage? since Koodo charges 1 month in advance? And my tab is at +6 now.

I believe that Cancellation date is set on the end of the billing cycle. The last day of your billing cycle is when your service will stop. So I don't think you will get a credit back for non usage of service.
And If you have any overages, it will be on your final bill.

The order goes into effect on Jan. 23, 2015. It’s hoped the move will allow consumers to better take advantage of a competitive marketplace.

You're still part of the 30-day notification period. The "no 30-day" will only apply on Jan. 23rd, 2015.

It will not apply to you.

You will be issued a final bill 30 days from when you issued the cancellation with the charges for that months bill and any overages you may have.

If you cancel at the end of your billing cycle then technically you are giving 0 to 1 days notice

@Justin Robichaud, the "no 30 day cancellation notice" ban that you're talking about is only for stuff like home internet, cable, landline etc.
Cancellation notices for Wireless Services have been banned since December 2, 2013. Please do not spread misinformation.

I have a 45$ plan, unlimited everything and 1G of data. Will I be credited back the 24 days after my service is terminated? I might port my number to another service provider. Thanks

This article doesn't mean anything for wireless service with Koodo. You always had and still have a say when you want to cancel your service. Am pretty sure that's whats in the service terms

With Koodo Basically no 30 day notice is required. If you cancel and if you are on postpaid you just continue until the end of your billing cycle you paid for. That may be 30 days or might be 0 days. I's not sure if this violates the Wireless Code of Conduct

It does not violate the Wireless Code, as long as the customer says "OK", and not "I want the line cancelled immediately."

Misinformation EVERYWHERE!
The Wireless Code came into effect on December 2, 2013 and it BANNED cancellation notices. The one that comes into effect on January 23 is for stuff like home TV, Internet, landline etc.
When you call Koodo, the rep will either say "It'll be cancelled at the end of your billing cycle" or ask "When do you want the line cancelled?". Whatever the rep says, you can say "I want it cancelled IMMEDIATELY", they have to do it and they have to refund the charges for those 24 days back to you. If the rep says that's not possible, hang up and call back to talk to somebody else or mention the Wireless Code: Wireless Code G.5.ii. Cancellation takes effect on the day that the service provider receives notice of the cancellation.
If your line gets cancelled because of a number port request from another provider, the system automatically refunds you and you don't have to deal with customer service.
