I purchased a Moto G5 from amazon.ca and I was sent the European Model.
I enquired whether this phone would even work properly in my region.
A list of frequencies/ bands compatible with the G5 were provided as followed:
"Supports LTE on bands GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz) UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz) 4G LTE (B1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 28, 38, 40)"

Will I be able to use 4G LTE in the Toronto area with this phone?
What are the limitations in other parts of Canada?

I have not purchased a nano sim card yet to check.

"Supports LTE on bands GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

UMTS/HSPA+ (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)
Koodo uses 700, 850, and 1900 MHZ  for HSPA+

4G LTE (B1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 19, 20, 28, 38, 40)"

Koodo uses mostly Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz) for LTE and may use some Band 38 (2600 MHz) in some markets.

It should work on 3G for the most part, and in some larger centres where Band 38 (2600 MHz) has been implemented for 4G.

Specifically if to you go Koodo's coverage map wherever you see lte-a you should get lTE coverage as Telus uses 2600mhz for lte - a.

Hi,

Thanks for the responses, I do in fact get LTE with this phone, and it works great!
The Koodo store rep was also quite helpful.
