It should work as long as the phone is unlocked and compatible with Koodo network. Most of the phones these days are made so that they can be used worldwide. The only thing I'm not sure about is if it can be used for LTE.

Sprint is a no no. They're a CDMA carrier so good luck getting their phones to work on anyone besides Sprint. If you're stuck on buying a US model, get the AT&T or T Mobile model to be safer (and make sure it's unlocked). Better yet, just buy one from a Canadian carrier/seller, like expansys or Omega cell communications.

Wow, I never knew that Sprint doesn't work with other carriers! I really thought phones these days are made to be used worldwide. Thanks for your information, Jonathan!

So there's been an update that I wasn't aware of... as of February 11th, 2015, apparently it can be unlocked from Sprint but it's a bit tougher than unlocking here in Canada. They also state in this FAQ that some phones manufactured for Sprint are still not capable of getting their SIM slot unlocked for international use. You're still better off buying one domestically rather than trying to import and jump through hoops just to save some cash.
