Will a Samsung Galaxy Alpha G850-A work with Koodo's 4G LTE service?

I am looking at buying the following Groupon deal for the phone in question, but before I do want to make sure that it will work with Koodo's 4G LTE service, as getting the faster speeds is one of my primary reasons for upgrading.

I have spent lots of time trying to research the answer but haven't found a satisfactorily reassuring answer yet.

Don't see LTE 1700 frequency listed. I'm not reassured.

Curious... Did you end up getting it and did it work? I'm a Telus customer and have been eyeballing that Groupon for a week or so contemplating it but am worried it wouldn't work on the Telus network...

I ended up purchasing it and the phone works great despite a couple of issues. I cannot send or receive picture messages (even after talking to Telus support) and I can't seem to find a way to update it to lollipop...

So I have ultimately decided to return this phone; I discovered that the mobile hotspot does not work on this phone either....that's strike 3 for me on that phone...it's too bad because I love the phone.

There is a way to manually update to Lollipop, version 5.02, with either Koodo or TELUS firmware. The model number is not G850-A as previously specified and rather SM-G850W. The phone is definitely capable of sending MMS messages, as per page 77 in the user's manual.

Enabling mobile data is required to send or receive an MMS message. You would also need mobile data enabled in order for the mobile hotspot to work.

The only way to update to Lollipop for the G850A is to acquire an AT&T sim card and sign up for a pay as you go in order to access the update. There is no other way at this time; not Samsung Kies3 or Sammobile.

As well, there is something on this phone (G850A) preventing MMS meesages from coming in or going out. I was on the phone with Telus support for 45 minutes the other night and we tried everything down to a factory reset and reinput of the APN settings and still no luck. The conclusion they came up with was that AT&T has some kind of lock on the phone (despite it being "unlocked").

So, in summary, do NOT get the AT&T G850A model; instead stick with the G850W. The G850A is nothing but a nightmare!

I kept looking for that model number and the firmware for the G850A long after I'd written my post and came to a dead end as well. Appreciate the feedback Mike and definitely worth noting.

I'm seeing Band 4 (LTE) listed under Specifications as well as the HSPA/HSPA+ frequencies, so it should work with TELUS/Koodo. Koodo's HSPA network uses 850/1900 MHz and their LTE network uses 1700/2100 MHz (AWS).
