Traveling to the Caribbean on a cruise next month. is there a way to turn off "Roaming" and have the phone on "airplane mode" and still use free wifi when we can get it?
Are there going to be additional charges on my bill? We usually just leave the phones at home.

No you can't use airplane mode and wifi at the same time. You can disable roaming which will stop roaming and can still use wifi. But if you are paranoid and turn off everything including enabling airplane mode, WiFi won't work. It's not necessary.

You can have the phone in airplane mode and WiFi on at the same time:

First, you turn on airplane mode, which turns off all communication. Then, you manually turn WiFi back on (same can be done with Bluetooth as well, if needed).
