When using my phone as a WiFi hotspot I can connect to the phone but can't get the internet. I've tried my SIM card in another phone and have the same problem. Is the SIM card defective?
My phone is a HTC desire 320 with a large data plan.

Is your mobile data turned on? Did you check if you have a data block on your account?

Data is turned on and my data works fine on the phone itself. Is there some kind of block that koodo would put on the sim card to not allow tethering?

On some phones there is a separate APN setting for hotspots. Check and see if there is one in your phone and fill it in with the same info as the data APN for your phone

Solved the problem with a nexus 5. My wife gets the htc since she doesn't need the tethering capability.

Not the original plan, but probably the one I would have considered, also!
