There are many other brands that have Android... HTC, LG, Sony, Motorola (ok, so that is owned by google too).... If you are talking about the Koodo selection of android phones, right now it does look like a Samsung shop, but they are one of the most popular brands in the world for Android handsets right now.

Koodo branded itself as a budget brand where we had compromised selection for cheap plans. With the new structure though, one can't make that argument as much. Hopefully we'll start seeing other brands too. What were you interested in?

If he's anything like me, then he's interested in pretty much anything that isn't Samsung.

a 700 dollar phone S4 is not budget, while it might be built with budget parts, which is why they never last for me. I hate samsung, they only support the new and flashy imo, and of my 2 samsung phones ever, the headphone jack fell apart inside and the other was the charging input fell apart inside. Terrible,,,, I'd pick a BB10 phone if it was all touch and not the Z10 or Z30

To answer your question, anything else that is good and earns its price. An iPhone is 700 dollars, so was my laptop, and my laptop certainly does more than that iphone! So therefore in my mind a phone shouldn't be 700 dollars.. 300 - 400 is logical, as long as its dual core 1.4~ghz

Hence I said, "with the new pricing structure". Premium phones, plans that aren't as great as they used to be. My point was simply: that used to be the reason. But now they can't really use that reason so maybe thigs will change. Who knows?

That's gonna be a great device for the price it sits at. It's no Nexus 4 or S4 mini but I like Sense 5, it has the boomsound speakers and good build quality, and a good battery size considering it has vibrant qHD screen and Snapdragon S4 1.4GHz dual-core with LTE!

I haven't seen a confirmed price yet, but Rogers is selling it for $300 and I've yet to see them price a device lower than Koodo. So, assuming that it is indeed $300 I'd say that's a better buy than the S4 Mini at $400. The Desire has a bigger battery, though it has 1 GB RAM (vs 1.5 on the S4 Mini) and 5 MP camera (vs. 8 MP on the S4 Mini). Seeing as the S4 Mini has TouchWiz, any advantage it has on paper for RAM disappears faster than you can say "TouchWiz sucks". As for the camera, a 5 MP can outperform an 8 MP, but I'm sure that neither phone has a stellar camera.

I'd still go for an N4 vs the Desire, but at least the Desire shouldn't carry the S4 Mini's $400 price tag.

The S4 mini's touchqiz is toned down, as is the S III mini's. I've played with an S III mini and I was impressed how well it ran for such a cheap device. Android's getting a lot better in the low/mid-range

So what phone should I get guys?

a Z10? a Desire? An SIII?

The reason I wanted to leave android is because I always root, and that becomes an addiction
