Why is my Motorola Moto g4 acting up?

I have a Motorola Moto g4 play. I've had it for about 11 months. It's really been acting up on me.

First my google play music keeps crashing for no reason. I could be surfing the web, chatting with someone and music stops playing.

I used to be able to restart my phone and temporarily fix the problem, but it would keep coming back.

Now it happens several times a day.

I've had an issue at one point trying to shut down my phone. It froze for over 5 minutes before finally shutting down.

Last week I shut down and restarted it. During startup, the screen stayed black. I only knew it was starting because of the noise.

My battery has been a problem for a long time, but now, if I'm using it at all, it drains quickly, and I'm charging it several times a day.

It really overheats too, it can get up to 46+°. I don't understand why it does this.

I'm not sure if I'm covered under warranty, and replacing the phone is not possible as koodo is not selling any Motorola phones. I wish they would tell us when they're going to be offering any Motorola phones anytime soon.

So these are my problems. What am I supposed to do?

Hi Kristina,
The phone normally was warranted for 12months, you could check with Koodo or Motorola for the warranty information.

Regarding the phone, I would suggest you reset the phone to factory settings, and see if it help. All information on the phone will be lost so you need to backup your data properly before doing that.

I've never done a backup, no idea how to do one. I can't afford to lose anything.

Right well for contacts you can just use google/ Gmail to back up those. Pictures you can just hook up to a computer and it'll recognize as a usb drive and you select in the notification that pops up on your phone to access the phone and copy and paste everything. Is there something else that you need to backup?

@: Kristina: there are some instruction about how to backup here: https://motorola-global-en-uk.custhelp.com/app/home/device/motorola/moto-g4-play/topic/reset/create-...

However, the backup could not cover everything, you would have to check if you have all important information somewhere.

As you said your phone had problems for a while, it is worth to make a backup of your data.

Make sure you do everything prior to your 1 year warranty expires.  After it expires, you are out of luck to get the phone repaired under Warranty.
