Why have I started paying my tab when I haven't received my new phone yet?

I just ordered a new Samsung A5. It said it will take up to 10 business days  to arrive. In the meantime, my old LG G3 has stopped working - it reboots every five minutes, won't connect to wifi or bluetooth - but my new billing cycle started today...including paying my tab medium. Why would my new billing cycle start when I haven't activated the new phone?

Your old Sim from the G3 is still active so when your new phone arrives you can just swap sims if it fits in the new phone. If it doesn't then you will have to call Koodo to have the new Sim that came with the phone activated. Your billing cycle stays the same. No disruption of service.

Hi Naomi,
Are you a new or existing customer? If you are an existing customer, the billing cycle should start as it did before. The Tab amount was charged by month (not by days of usage). So if the phone is in your hand this billing cycle, the Tab amount would be charged.

I'm an existing customer. I don't understand though why my billing cycle wouldn't start on the day I activate my phone? Now my new plan is activated and I'm paying more money even though I don't have a working phone....

Because as far as Koodo knows you still have a working phone. Most people I'd say simply upgrade their phone so they have a working phone and want a useable plan while their new one arrives.
